Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim said the circumstances of his death were unclear. However, the video of the incident shows Abu Akleh being shot in the head.
“What we know now is that the Palestinian Ministry of Health has announced his death. Shirin Abu Akleh, who was covering the events in Jenin, especially the Israeli campaign in a town north of the occupied West Bank.
Ibrahim said in tears that Abu Akleh was a “very good journalist” who had been working with Al Jazeera since the inception of the second Palestinian intifada in 2000.
